    1. He cant he is a 7 or 8 year old boy and asef is a grown man

      Delete
    2. Sohrab is just a kid, he can't fight against a grown man.

      Delete
    3. Sohrab did fight back pg 261 he made Assef "One Eyed Assef" "The slingshot made a thwiiiit sound when Sohrab released the cup. Then Assef was screaming."

      Delete
    4. Since time has changed Assef would be a older man now...

      Delete
  2. Do you think that Assef rapes other boys/men? Or is it just Hassan and his son?
*gosh this story is messed up*

    ReplyDelete
  3. What do you think will happen to Assef?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Is assef considered gay?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes! Even if he doesn't admit it out loud, he makes it extremely clear

      Delete
    2. I think it's more of a punishment for Hazara's and it's a way for Assef to show them who's in charge, not because he's attracted to men...

      Delete
    3. Yes because he shows an attraction towards Hassan and his son. He makes it clear the rape is not just about power, there is an attraction also.

      Delete
    4. I think he will probably be Bi. I mean it kind of makes sense, but probably mostly gay.

      Delete
    5. No he is raping Sohrab just because he hates Hazaras. Rape is sometimes used just as a fear factor.

      Delete
    6. Based on his sexuality, he's gay just based on his actions against Hassan.

      Delete
    7. It is not considered gay. It is child rape more than being gay. He does this because on page 281 he says that he is in his element meaning that he is in power. Also just because you rape a boy and you older than them ,then it is not called being gay but just child rape.

      Delete
    8. No, he is not he is getting raped. He is not gay. He is forced to do those things.

  5. Is the Taliban hypocritical?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, they are very power hungry also. The Taliban does whatever they want while limiting everybody else's rights.

      Delete
    2. Absolutely, I mean they do everything they are telling people not to do, but they do it behind quarters it's really hypocritical.

      Delete
    3. Yes because they don't let people listen to music but on page 288 it says Assef turned on music before he fought Amir.

      Delete
    4. Of course they are because the rules that they are making they are all breaking so has is that fair and why should they have to follow if they're not.

      Delete
    5. Yes, they murder people very violently yet the Taliban's actions are far more worse than those who have "sinned".

      Delete
  6. page 289 Assef is beating up Amir. Do you think that getting beat up by Assef makes up for what he did to Hassan.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think it exactly makes up for it but it does make him feel better.

      Delete
    2. Yes in a way because Hassan was hurt and no he is in pain because of Hassan's son.

      Delete
    3. He said "For the first time since the winter of 1975, I felt at peace." I think that getting beat up by Assef made him feel less guilty about what happened to Hassan because he suffered too.

      Delete
    4. No, physical pain can't always take away the emotional pain that he has for Hassan.

      Delete
    5. Yes because when he is getting beat up, he is thinking what would have happened had he stepped in during what happened in the alley. He realized that getting beat up, no matter how bad, was better than letting his friend getting raped.

      Delete
    6. Yes, because during the beating Amir finally feels healed for his pain with Hassan.

      Delete
  7. Is Amir a hero? Or can Amir not be a hero because of all the bad in heroic things he has done in his past?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Every hero hit to their lowest point to the story so I would say, yes but he ends up as a good person in the end.

      Delete
    2. Amir is a hero in some ways but he is not in others some of the things that he has done sense Hassan has done but he still did somethings that cannot be forgiven.

      Delete
    3. i think it is hard to call him a hero because of all the horrible things he has done but i guess it is possible if he did something as heroic as he did.;

      Delete
  8. What does Baba's guilt motivate him to do?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Show his loyalty to Hassan and be strong and not a weak man. Stand up for himself.

      Delete
  9. "And was this really happening? Was I really sitting across from Assef?" (p.282) Is Amir is worried that Assef will do what he did to Hassan?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think so and that fear grew a lot more when he saw Sohrab and how Assef treated him/dressed him

      Delete
    2. I would think so because he is still the same sick twisted person that he was when he raped Hassan.

      Delete
  10. If you were Sohrab how would you feel to find out your uncle who you've never met before come and save your life? How would you repay that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would feel safe and grateful. It means a lot having someone care about so much that they risk their life for you especially if you don't even know them. In addition, there is quite a few things to repay that. I could do a special deed for him but nothing would compare to what he did for me.

      Delete
    2. I think if i was in the situation it would be pretty strange that it happened to be my uncle and i think i would be pretty flustered.

      Delete
  11. Who do you think the hero is in this chapter? Is it maybe its Sohrab.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's both Sohrab and Amir because neither would be alive without the other

      Delete
  12. On page 274 Amir says that it might have been a mistake to stop acting like a coward. Why would he want to act like a coward? What advantages does he get when acting like a coward?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well not getting beaten up almost to death is a pretty good reason. But saving a friend/brothers son and paying a debt it worth the beating I think

      Delete
  13. Could Amir be considered a hero?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, in the characteristics in the "hero's journey" every hero meets his or her breaking or low point in their journey. Amir certainly met those characteristics and has succumbed to be a hero.

  14. does shorab know who amir is that he was friends with hassan

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think Shorab knows because he was so little I doubt Hassan ever told him, but Shorab will probably find out from Amir in the near future.

      Delete
  15. On page 281 Amir got face to face with Assef again. How do you think he felt? Was he scared?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In the book it sayed he was very scared so i would say yes.

      Delete
    2. I think he was scared but he stayed brave for Hassan and Sohrab.

      Delete
  16. When Amir gets beat by Assef do you think that it redeams him for letting Hassan get raped

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This comment has been removed by the author.

      Delete
    2. Amir feels that way which can be explaind in the quote while he was getting beat up by Assef and started laughing,"What was so funny was that, for the first time since the winter of 1975, I felt at peace." page 289.

      Delete
  17. Does Assef know that Sohrab is Hassan's son?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think that Assef had any idea that Sohrab was related to Hassan. Assef would have told Amir during his lengthy talk before the fight if he had actually known. I think it is just coincidence.

      Delete
    2. I think Assef knew which expalins why he had such an attachment to Shorab. Assef hated Hassan and enjoyed rapeing him, so when he died he thought his son could be a relacement.

      Delete
  18. Does Sorab know that Amir and Farid are trying to help him?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is hard to say because he has been abused by so many people that he think that they are there for a different purpose.

      Delete
  19. In the beginning of chapter 22 Amir states he used to go door to door shooting families in their homes. Is this normal in Afghanistan or is their something wrong with Amir?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It was Assef that went going door to door shooting families

  20. Pg 308 "There never was a Thomas and Betty Caldwell in Peshwar." Pg 310 "There is a way to be good again. A way to be good again." Could it be that Rahim Kahn wanted Amir to find Sohrab and make him his son?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that Rahim knew that Amir would eventually do the right thing and he could finally feel redeemed for what he did to Hassan.

      Delete
  21. Why can't Amir save himself? First it was Hassan and then Sohrab who rescued Amir from Assef. Will he ever be able to protect himself without someone else saving him?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that Amir can't save himself because like Baba said earlyier in the book "A man who can't stand up for himself can't stand up to anything."

      Delete
  22. On page 289 Amir starts laughing while getting beat up. Do you think Assef got so mad because that's what he did to the Russian guard.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think Assef got mad because he wanted to hurt Amir not make him laugh.

      Delete
    2. I think Assef was mad because he was trying to give Amir pain, but the laughter shows enjoyment and not being bothered. This really got Assef heated because it makes him feel unsuccessful from what he was trying to do to Amir.

      Delete
  23. On page 280 Assef says he is on a mission to rid Afghanistan of garbage. What does Assef mean by this? Could this also be a positive statement?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that Assef is talking about getting rid of all of the Hazaras

      Delete
    2. No, because it means that he is going to kill more people and commit horrible hate crimes.

      Delete
    3. It could be a positive statement but not coming from Assef because his definition of garbage is just people who are weak and people who are other religions.

      Delete
    4. This could be a positive statement because it shows that Assef wanted to make Afghanistan a better place and stop the bad things going on.

      Delete
  24. Do you think Amir will tell Sohrab what happened to Hassan?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think he will tell him just not right now because he is going through a lot

      Delete
  25. On page 291 it talks about Amir after he just had gotten beat up. How did Sorab feel about him? He helped Amir but did he feel bad?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pg 285 "What do you want to do with him, or to him?"
    "That's disgusting"
"How do you know? Have you tried it?"
-Why would the author make Assef so gay. Could it be so you hate Assef even more?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. By the way just because he rapes boys doesn't mean he is gay. The author made him "gay" is because Assef is wanting power. Assef raping boys makes him feel like he is more powerful. I also think that Assef is shown raping boys younger to him to show he is powerful because he himself probably is weak inside.

      Delete
  27. Do you think Amir thinks he i redeemed now that Assef has beat him up also?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that not because Assef beat him up but because he saved Sohrab from Assef

      Delete
    2. I think he feels like he got his punishment for what he did to Hassan and that make him feel less guilty.

      Delete
    3. But at the came time, he will always have that guilt inside of him of what really happened.

      Delete
  28. What does Amir mean when he feels that he is the one wrestling the bear instead of Baba?

    ReplyDelete
  29. In the beginning of chapter 23 it describes Amir basically just beat up. Could this reflect off of watching his friend getting raped?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Will the Taliban pursue Amir and Sohrab? On page 292 it says,"The truck's doors slammed shut and the engine roared to life. The car jerked forward and I get a tiny hand on my forehead."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think so, Assef made it clear that whoever wins can walk out of the room free and Amir won.

      Delete
    2. I would think that they would come searching for them because they broke out with one of their slaves.

      Delete
    3. If they catch them which it doesn't really seem like they will.

      Delete
    4. I don't think that it's possible for there to be a pursuit because there is only 2 more chapters, but they could. In chapter 23 the guy who walked in the room wrapped in a blanket and then walked out not saying anything could have been a talib.

      Delete
  31. Why did Rahim Khan trick Amir into deciding to take care of Sohrab? Will this justify for Amir's sin of letting Hassan get raped when they were kids?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that Rahim knew that once Amir met Sohrab he would love him as his own son and Amir wouldn't be able to leave Sohrab behind.

      Delete
  32. What would be the difference between a hero and a bad person in the story?

    ReplyDelete

    1. How Amir was in the past and how he is now.

  33. What is the deeper meaning of Amir's dream that he has in the hospital? On page 295 it says,"He's me. I am wrestling the bear".

    ReplyDelete
  34. In the beginning of Chapter 23 when Amir had just passed out, what was he thinking about when he talked about the bear Baba fought? Did this actually happen early in Amirs life?

    ReplyDelete
  35. How does Amir view himself personally?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do a certain amount of goods equal 1 bad? is there any number of good things Amir has to do to make up for what he let happen?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Who is the real hero or leader of the story at this point? Or is it not known yet?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think it is too early to tell who is and isn't the hero.

      Delete
  38. on page 292 " He slug my arm around his shoulder and lifted me. Carried me to the truck, running." what does this really mean ? is it so they can get away?

    evil actions?
