What did Amir see in the deserted alley?
ReplyDeleteHe probably saw Assef and his friends beating up Hassan.
DeleteDo you think Amir is jealous of Hassan's relationship with Baba?
ReplyDeleteYes, he looks up to Baba, and he wishes he was accepted by him
DeleteWhy does Baba treat Amir so poorly?
ReplyDeleteIt is almost like he doesn't want to be known as a friend he has only seen him as a servant not a friend.

DeleteI think it's because Baba can't relate to Amir. Amir is nothing like Baba was as a child.
DeleteBaba wishes that Amir could have more of his athletic skills and be just like him. He doesn't really want Amir to be writing and always reading books, he wants his son to be outdoors and playing soccer.
DeleteWhat does Hazara mean?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a regional group determined by religion, like how Hazaras are Shi'a Muslims and Amir is Pastun and a Sunni Muslim.
DeleteEvan beat me to this.
Deletehow do you know that
DeleteHow will Baba treat Amir after he starts writing?
ReplyDeleteI think Baba will still think its great that Amir is doing something that he loves but he probably wishes that Amir would be more into soccer or something athletic because he wants his son to turn out just like he did.
DeleteHe wont be happy because he wants him to be sporty and really athletic not reading all the time.
DeleteI think that Baba is proud of Amir to find something that he loves but he wants him to be more athletic and more like himself.
DeleteI think that Baba won't like it Even though he loves writing, Baba probably will think it's not beneficial or he'll think it's girly. He'll probably ignore Amir or try to make him stop writing and go into sports.
Delete1) Why does Amir not let Hassan play with he is around other kids?
ReplyDelete2)Does belittling others make us feel better in the long run?
3)Does Baba love Amir?
Amir doesn't want to be seen with his servant even though he seems to be with him a lot. It is hard to decide how one will feel in the long run because some people will not care how they feel. I am not really sure how Baba feels about Amir.
DeleteI believe he does, but I think that he wishes his son were more successful
DeleteWhy is Amir’s father so against him being different? What’s so bad about him writing a short story *which sounds amazing by the way*?
ReplyDeleteI think he wants Amir to have the same interests as he did when he was a kid, and he also needs somebody to take over his business after he dies
DeleteWho is Rahim Khan? Is he apart of the family?
ReplyDeleteHe is Baba's friend and business partner
DeleteI can't find it, but I'm pretty sure that Rahim Khan works with Baba in the business they own.
DeleteYou can find it in the middle of the second paragraph on page 5... Rahim is his best friend and they also work together
DeleteWhy did Ali say ‘they’re hunting ducks’? Of all the things to use, why hunting ducks?
ReplyDeleteHe probably didn't want Hassan and Amir to be afraid at the time. By telling them what was going on, they probably would of started to freak out and be unsure of what to do and he didn't want them to be scared over something they had no control over.
Deletemaybe he didnt want to scare amir
DeleteBut still, of all the things. He could have said something else.
DeleteBut what else could he have said?
DeleteDoes Hassan wish he knew his mom? Does he wish she was still there?
ReplyDeleteHe obviously would since she died giving birth to him and he doesn't have a mother figures.
Deletewhat if he never wanted to meet his mother because she left him
DeleteHassan's mom is the one who left though, not the one that died. And I don't think so, because he talks as if he doesn't like her, and he hates her.
DeletePage 6, "Hassan never talked about his mother, as if she'd never existed."
Amir's mother was the one who died after giving birth. Hassan's mother left 5 days after he was born. I think he'd want to know his mother and find out why she left.
Deletemaybe he considers himself in a higher class than hassan
ReplyDeleteHe does because he's a arrogant little punk.
DeleteSince he is technically Hassans servant he treats him like dirt
DeleteWhat are poplar trees?
ReplyDeletedude they are trees
Deletea kind of tree
DeletePoplar Trees: flowering plants in the family Salicaceae, native to most of the Northern Hemisphere.

DeleteAmir would only sees him as a servant and doesn't really think him as a friend because of his low position of his family heritage.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to sinning, I think you get to decide on how it changes you. You can kill someone and go to jail, but you have two choices. When released from jail, don't feel bad and act as if you don't care, or you can work your hardest to become a better person. There is always a choice.
ReplyDeleteDo your good deeds determine who you are as well?
DeleteBut if you kill someone that will haunt you. You may try your hardest to become a better person, but you can't stop thinking about it. Also what about the person's family you killed. How will they move on when someone they loved died and that person is still out. Cause that person could do it again. So actually there are 4 different choices. Don't feel bad. Work to be a better person. Go back to killing people. Or death. Last one is gruesome...
Deletehmmm......
DeleteAlso in society, we have been taught that someone who does good things is a good person, and vica versa. But there are people who THINK they are doing the right thing but it's not. Hitler for example. Or leaders of other countries. It may even be something as simple as manipulation.
DeleteHow has Amir's family gained their fortune
ReplyDeleteAmir's family gained their fortune by his grandfather being a judge and Baba growing many large industries in Afghanistan.
DeleteI thought it was because Amirs mother's family was royal.

DeleteBaba started many businesses on his own. He also decided to not listen to what others told him.

ReplyDeleteIs jealousy a common reason for dislike?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is because jealousy usually leads to disliking the person for what the other person has which this person doesn't have at all.
DeleteProbably. It may not be as strong as dislike, but you may think bad thoughts about them, or want to do things to them because they are jealous of what they have.
Deletewhy is Amir so mean and doesn't think he is his son?
ReplyDeleteHe seems selfish.
